A visit to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria degli Angeli is a must. Built over a karst cave where an image of the Virgin was discovered, it has been home to a Franciscan convent since the 15th century and Augustinian friars are in charge of the church spaces. A truly charming panoramic area is in front of the sanctuary, offering breathtaking views over the entire town and the Bari plain stretching to the sea. Visiting in the evening is highly recommended, when thousands of lights from houses and narrow streets create a magical and unforgettable atmosphere.
