For time being, Nusantara is in the middle of nowhere: it's a 3-hour drive from the nearest major cities Balikpapan and Samarinda.
Much of the city remains an active construction zone and is off limits to visitors. Nusantara officially opened to tourists in September 2024, with a quota of 300 visitors per day between 09:00 and 17:00.
