By bus
The road from Medan to Lhokseumawe and from Banda Aceh is now reasonable. The express night buses from Medan 8 hours, Rp95,000, are a particularly good deal.
By boat
The ferry from Penang to Langsa, with a capacity of 138 passengers, commenced operation on the 21st of February.
There is no need for travel permits anymore in Lhokseumawe. Rental becak (rickshaws), cars and motorcycles are available in Lhokseumawe. Lhokseumawe also has a lot public transportation.
