Uttarpara (উত্তরপাড়া Uttorpāṛā, literally "northern neighbourhood") is an industrial town on the western bank of the Hooghly River, in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. Close to Kolkata, Uttarpara was a major automobile hub with India's first car factory, and although the city faced decline from the 1990s till the 2020s, it has been revived as a major manufacturing hub for metro vehicles in India.

India's first car factory, and the manufacturing site of the iconic Hindustan Ambassador, once one of the most common car models plying on the city streets in India. However, the popularity of the Ambassador has declined with the rise of numerous automobile giants in the country. As the production of the Ambassador was scrapped, the Hind Motor plant was closed in 2014. However, as of the 2020s, Titagarh Rail Systems has revived its popularity by producing ultra-modern aluminium metro coaches.
