The dungeon used by Tipu Sultan to imprison the British officers who were captured during the Anglo-Mysore Wars. It is said that the prisoners were tied to fixtures in the stone slab of the dungeon and were immersed in water up to their necks. The dungeon is named after Colonel William Bailey (Baillie) who fell into Tipu's hands in the Second Anglo-Mysore War in 1780, and spent several months in the inhumane conditions till his death in 1782.
You are allowed to wear the footwear inside the mosque compound, but you have to remove it when entering the steps leading to the upper mosque. The inner sanctum sanctorum of the upper floor is usually closed. You can find it open during prayer times: 2PM, 5PM, 7PM, and 9PM. Visit the mosque immediately after the muezzin's call so that you can see the spectacular inner hall of Tipu's original ancient mosque.

It enshrines the cenotaphs of Hyder Ali, his wife Fakr-Un-Nisa and Tipu Sultan, after he died in 1799. Very beautiful tomb, mosque and many gardens.
