The gurudwara was established in 1996 to mark the legendary visit of Guru Nanak who halted at Malda on his way to Puri.
Although the original mosque was built during the rule of Bengal sultan Hussain Shah, the present building was built during the rule of Mughal emperor Akbar in 1004 AH.
