This fort was built by the British in Worli around 1675. The fort, built on Worli Hill, overlooked Mahim Bay at a time the city was made up of just seven islands. It was used as a lookout for enemy ships and pirates. The fort is completely in ruins today and a slum has enveloped the edifice. A bell tower peeps out of the ruins and the ramparts are used to dry clothes.

One of the most famous temples in Mumbai is a shrine to Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god who is said to be the destroyer of obstacles. Many devout Hindus walk from their homes to this temple barefoot, especially on Tuesdays, which is considered a special day. The queue to enter the temple stretches to eternity on Tuesdays, so visit some other day if you can.
