The Mukhopdahyay family who owns this property originated from Sharsha which is at present-day Khulna Division, Bangladesh. Khelaram Mukhopadhyay of this family built this zamindar house.

Established by then Zamindar Kaliprasanna Mukhopadhyay, the temple faced southwards has Goddess Kali along with 12 other shrines of Lord Shiva distributed into 6 shrines on either side of the temple. It is believed that zamindar Rani Rashmoni came across the temple and she got the idea of establishing the Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata.
