A 17th-century terracotta temple, and one of the earliest and rarest surviving examples of the classic char-chala (four-sloped roofs meeting at a pinnacle) style of Bengal temple architecture. Believed to be built between 1632 and 1683.
Simurali was originally developed as a feeder port to Kolkata in the British period. However, the port was later abandoned as the Hooghly River later changed its course. The building is still present as a remainder of the original port town.
