A magnificent 32-m high double waterfall on the White River (Hvítá). The flow of the river from the regular rains and the glacial runoff, particularly in summer, makes it the largest volume falls in Europe. If you walk down the long flights of stairs you can get really close to the waterfall to take great photos or videos. Be careful not to drop in the water, though; the rock platform can be slippery and the "fence" is made up of two thin wires! Numerous tours take you along a Golden Circle that includes Gullfoss. Free parking, gift shop, and café.
Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the canyon of the Hvítá river in southwest Iceland, between the municipalities of Bláskógabyggð and Hrunamannahreppur. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country, and is included in "Golden Circle" tours of the countryside near Reykjavík.
