Thessaly is a region in central Greece that has unique holiday destinations such as the Meteora monasteries, Mount Olympus, the Pelion peninsula, the Northern Sporades island group, and the beaches of the Olympic Riviera.

Larissa (Greek: Λάρισα), has a population of 162,591 people (2011). It is the 4th largest city in Greece, and is in Thessaly, between Athens (355 km) and Thessaloniki (150 km).

Amaliapolis, or Amaliapoli, is a beautiful seaside village about 60 km south of Volos, on the western side of the Pagasetic Gulf in Greece. Kalambaka (Καλαμπάκα, also romanized as Kalampaka or Kalabaka) is a city of 11,500 people in the Thessaly region of central Greece, at the base of the Meteora monasteries. This is the hub of tourist services for the mystical clifftop refuges that loom above it.
