near the village of Gratini are the ruins of the Byzantine city, which was the most important center of the region after the destruction of Mosynoupoli in the 14th century. Only very sparse remains have survived. Next door is the lovely chapel of Zoodochos Pigi, which is worth seeing mainly because of the view and the ruins of a castle.
