Katakolo is a small seaside port in Elis in the western Peloponnese. It is best known as the cruise gateway to ancient Olympia. Once a modest fishing village, it now serves as a seasonal stop for cruise ships visiting the archaeological site of Olympia and nearby western Peloponnese beaches. Despite this, Katakolo retains a relaxed waterfront atmosphere with cafés, tavernas, and views over the Ionian Sea.

“Mouse Castle”, later known as Beauvoir
A Byzantine fortification, captured early in the Frankish conquest of the Morea in the 13th century. It retains little more than overgrown earthworks and Byzantine tower bases in cloisonné masonry. Despite its modest remains, the summit offers wide views over the coast and inland plains.
