Dominating the village from a rocky peak, Karytaina Castle is a 13th-century Frankish fortress reached by a steep footpath. Likely built around 1254 for the Bruyères family, it later passed into Byzantine hands in the early 14th century. The ruins include sections of a triangular defensive circuit, towers, and large cisterns. The main reward is the sweeping view over the Alfeios Valley and surrounding mountains.

Just below the modern road bridge at Karytaina, a remarkable medieval stone bridge spans part of the Alfeios River gorge. It was built in the Frankish period and restored in 1439, it remained in use until relatively recently. Four of its original arches survive, along with a small chapel built onto one of the piers. It is easily reached via a short path from the roadside.
