Florina is a town of fewer than 20,000 people (2011) in West Macedonia, northern in Greece. Florina is the gateway to the Prespa Lakes and it is a useful staging post from North Macedonia into Greece.

It has prehistoric, Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine finds from the Florina area.

A variety of traditional everyday wear from the Florina area, looms, weaving implements, agricultural implements, objects for everyday use (mainly cooking utensils), and a collection of medicinal plants and aromatic herbs.
This is an archaeological site of a Hellenistic city, offering beautiful views of the nearby lake. Built in a strategically important location on the slopes of a 720-metre-high trapezoidal hill, it towered majestically over Lake Petra and the fertile plain. Petra flourished in the 2nd century BC. Thanks to the Via Egnatia, it developed into an important trading centre with lively exchanges with many Greek cities. However, the settlement was destroyed and abandoned in the middle of the 1st century AD during the Roman civil war.

By taxi
Florina can be reached by taxi from Ohrid or Bitola in North Macedonia. There is no public transport.
You can easily get around by foot. It is a nice way to see beautiful neoclassical houses.
