Built as the "home" of the Ruhr Festival, it has developed into an extraordinary cultural centre since its opening in 1965, in which many exhibitions, performances and other events take place outside of the festival season. The house on the "green hill" by the city garden presents itself as part of the Bauhaus architecture with simple and functional lines and right angles.
