Henri Bosco died in Nice, but he wanted to be buried in Lourmarin.
It was in 1958 that the author of L'Étranger decided to settle in Lourmarin, in the Luberon, which he compared to the landscapes of Algeria. In 1960, he died in a serious traffic accident. It is in the small cemetery of Lourmarin that he rests in peace. His grave bears a simple plaque with his name, first name and dates of birth and death. To the left of the tomb is that of his wife Francine.
It dates from the 11th century.
It is a bell tower built in the 17th century. The bell measures 70 cm in diameter, it was cast in Carpentras by JL Romain in 1732. The belfry was built on the ruins of an old stately castle.
