Alpe d'Huez is a winter ski resort city in the French Alps. It is a popular resort for cycling fans as in many years one of the most important stages of the Tour de France ends at the ski station. Alpe d'Huez was made famous by the TV coverage which often made the stage out to be pivotal before it even happened. The victories (some of them since stripped due to doping) of cyclists like Marco Pantani, Jan Ulrich or Lance Armstrong are often associated with Alpe d'Huez.
