The archipelago north of Ḥamāṭa, 93 kilometers south-east of Marsā ʿAlam, consists i.a. consists of the islands Ǧazirat Shawārīṭ, Ǧazirat Suyūl and Ǧazirat Maḥābīs and is named after Wādī Qulʿān.
