万峰林风景区
Commonly known as the Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks, it is one of the five most beautiful parks in China and one of the three largest karst topographies in southwest China. It is a popular place for exploring the emerald green peaks, abundant golden rapeseed fields and quaint traditional villages. Additionally, the attraction is inhabited by locals, where farmers can be seen tending to the fields and strolling during the evening. A tour bus circuit exists around the park, bringing visitors to the various sights and spectacles of the peaks, providing both a bird's eye view and a ground level view of the entire park. A typical circuit from the Main Gate is 15km long and takes around 2 hours to complete. Once done, a food market awaits at the end to fill the stomach. Food options within the attraction are limited, with outside ones tasting better. Various modern and clean hotels and homestays exist within the attraction, run by friendly locals. The ticket and sightseeing bus cover the ridge-road viewpoints; the valley floor below — the villages, rice paddies and lanes among the peaks — is on ordinary public roads with no gate and can be walked, cycled or driven for free. Bicycles, e-bikes and small electric buggies hire out along the valley road. In peak season, bikes are not allowed on the shuttle road during the day.
It is a national key scenic spot; the valley is deep and the flow is rapid, the murals are transcendent, and the silver waterfall is flying down, which is worthy of being the gap between the sky and the ground. It is a famous rafting resort in China, and the first China International Kayak Rafting Competition was held here in 1998. The whole course of rafting on the Maling River is more than 50 km, passing through more than 80 dangerous beaches, more than 70 deep pools, and more than 60 bays. Most visitors come for the scenery rather than rafting, and the waterfalls are fullest after rain. A sightseeing lift (about ¥40 return) saves the roughly three-hour walk down into the gorge and back up; half a day is enough.
