Ruoergai Grassland Scenic Area is located on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, at an elevation of 3,300–3,600 meters, and is also known as the Songpan Plateau. It is a highland basin surrounded by mountains, including the Min Mountains, Qionglai Mountains, Guoluo Mountains, Animaqing Mountains, and the Western Qinling Mountains.
