银雀山汉墓竹简博物馆
China's first site museum devoted to Han-dynasty bamboo slips, built on the spot where two Western Han tombs were excavated in April 1972. The dig produced roughly 4,900 bamboo slips, including Sun Tzu's The Art of War alongside Sun Bin's Art of War, lost for more than 1,700 years — settling a centuries-old argument over whether Sun Wu and Sun Bin were the same man and whether one or two treatises existed. Other finds include the Six Strategies, the Wei Liaozi and a calendar dated 134 BCE. Ranked among "New China's Ten Great Archaeological Discoveries" and the "Top 100 Archaeological Discoveries of 20th-Century China". Opened October 1989; a new building with seven galleries opened in September 2021. The reconstructed tomb chambers are on display; the original slips are held by the Shandong provincial archaeology institute, so the museum shows facsimiles. Allow 1-1.5 hours.
