Seat of China's parliament and venue for important political meetings. While the hall is normally used for meetings for the National People's Congress, there are occasionally classical-music concerts held there.
国家大剧院 Guójiā Dàjùyuàn
Theater complex with three halls (opera, music and theater) covering almost 12,000 m² and seating a total of 5,452 people. One of the most stunning buildings in Beijing and a must see even if not attending an opera or concert.
中南海
This former imperial garden centered on two lakes is now the headquarters of China's government and ruling party. The compound is not to the public, but you can take a photo in front of the distinctive south gate and revolutionary slogans fronting West Chang'an Avenue. You can also see the back of the compound from the south side of Beihai Park, from which it is separated by a bridge.
