Maio is an island in Cape Verde. Vila do Maio, or just Vila, is the primary city on the island. It is the home to the island's airport and seaport.
A site that offers self catering villa and apartments which you can book direct with the owners. A unique Cape Verdian experience.
By boat
There are ferries between Praia and Maio, taking 2.5 hours. However, the ferry does not run every day. Check CV Interilhas for schedule.
There are buses that circle the island on the single cobblestone road. Hitchhiking is also a common, well-accepted means of transportation among locals and tourists alike.
