Built in 1855, BME Church was a terminus for the Underground Railroad. Harriet Tubman was a church member and one of the conductors leading escaped slaves to this church.
Remnants of the First and Second Canals including lock walls can still be seen.
The site has ruins of an 1870 knife factory that was closed about 1921. The original stone foundations remain.
