The Queen Elizabeth Islands in Nunavut comprise the northernmost populated region in Canada. They include Ellesmere Island which is the world's tenth largest island. There is one small community (Grise Fiord) on Ellesmere Island, which is reachable by air and seasonally by sea, while a far northern military base (CFB Alert) and weather station (Eureka) are reachable by air only. South of Grise Fiord is Resolute, a small community on Cornwallis Island.
Almost all transport is by air. The only scheduled destinations are Resolute Bay Airport (YRB) and Grise Fiord Airport (YGZ).
