The museum is dedicated to Joseph Brant, a Mohawk military and political leader who sided with the British during the American Revolution. Most exhibits are artifacts and photos related to the history of Burlington, but few exhibits are about the museum's namesake.
Thayendanegea or Joseph Brant was a Mohawk military and political leader, based in present-day New York state and, later, Brantford, in what is today Ontario, who was closely associated with Great Britain during and after the American Revolution. Perhaps the best known North American Indigenous figure of his generation, he met many of the most significant Americans and Britons of the era, including both George Washington and George III.

Spencer's at the Waterfront
A 14,200-sq-ft landmark building that faces out to the lake and offers prime storm and weather watching views. Designed by Baird Sampson Nuert it has given residents and visitors a unique place to discover, celebrate, play, and relax by our lake. Discovery Landing is open all day, daily and features The Observatory, Spencer's on the Waterfront, the Bite Café, and an information area to provide information on the park. Discovery Landing overlooks the Rotary Centennial Pond, a 10,000 square-foot year-round water feature. In the spring, summer and fall it is a reflective pool ideal for model sail boating and in winter it will have free ice-skating on an artificial ice surface.
The gallery has displays of Canadian contemporary art and ceramics. Within the building, there are studios and classrooms, and a greenhouse with many varieties of plants arranged in an attractive garden setting.
