Tamandaré is in northeastern Brazil.
By car
Tamandaré is only directly accessible by car. From Recife, you take the BR-101 and PE-60 roads. Signs along the roads indicate "Litoral Sul" (South Coast), "Tamandaré" and "Porto de Galinhas".
By bus
There is a bus from Recife to Tamandaré (via Praia dos Carneiros) operated by Progresso company, departing from the bus stop at Avenida Dantas Barreto in Recife.
Most of the restaurants, attractions, "pousadas" and hotels are by the beach. You can walk to most locations, or get a "Táxi Charrete", a horse-drawn wagon that takes you to different places, including beaches nearby.
