One of the last active coal mines in Belgium, now restored as a museum. There is a museum at ground level, but visitors can also tour the mine (deep descent in traditional miners' cage, long staircases, not recommended for the claustrophobic) or be shown how the spoil heaps are being reclaimed by nature.

Grand Curtius
This imposing 8-storey building from the start of the 17th century was the store of a rich arms merchant. It has art and history collections.
It was the last of 7 "collégiales liégeoises" to be built, near the end of the 11th century. It is home to the masterwork of the Liège goldsmiths from the Middle Ages: the baptismal fonts from the old parish church of the cathedral.
It was an official building under French rule and twice welcomed Napoleon.
Musée d’Ansembourg
Now a museum (Musée d’Ansembourg), is worth visiting for the well-preserved original interior.
