This Gothic church was consecrated in 1443. The altar was created in 1775 by the sculptor Petrus Schmid. From 1984 to 1986 the baroque extension from 1775 was demolished and a new extension was made according to the plans of the architect Heinz Tesar.
The building was once a hunting lodge of the Salzburg archbishops in Pongau. The rich facade structure comes from a renovation around 1748. This conversion to a vicariate house was carried out according to plans by the court building manager Johann Kleber. In the building today there is a public library, exhibitions, and events by the Catholic Educational Institute in Salzburg.
