It extends over a large area attached to the area of the “Dajti Mountain” National Park and near Qafë Shtama. It represents a large mountain massif, which consists of Triassic-Jurassic limestone. It is interrupted by several valleys, rich in streams, which often constitute the beginning of large rivers, as is the case of the Mati River. Several interesting mountains stand out, such as: Mali i Lopës (2,000m), i Snoit të Madh (1,846m), as well as Mali me Gropa (average 1,500-1,600m), quite unique, due to the karst pits present in it.
The name of Mali me Gropa is linked to the numerous pits that are very dense and have a strange appearance formed by the karst process, or the dissolution of limestone rocks, from which this mountain is built. The karst pits have the shape of hollows with diameters ranging from several meters to several tens of meters. They are closed, without surface runoff, while at their bottom there are sinkholes, through which rainwater penetrates into the depths of the limestone mass. This water emerges in the form of large springs around this mountain. Here we find many types of herbaceous and woody plants as well as animals of various kinds: earthly beauty, reptiles, mountain thrush, rabbit, fox, wolf, etc.
Black Lake
It is a glacial lake with a north-south length of 600m, an average east-west width of 300 m, a depth of 60 m, and an average surface area of 16.5 ha. The altitude above sea level is 1645 m. It is surrounded on three sides by very steep slopes, covered with beech and pine forests, which give the lake a rare beauty. It has crystal clear and cold water. During the winter it freezes on the surface. Due to its great depth and chromite deposits at its bottom, it has a black color. It is rich in a living and diverse world and forms an interesting ecosystem of alpine lakes.
It can be visited according to the itinerary: from the Burrel-Peshkopi national road, or the Bulqizë-Zerqan road then the walking path to Liqeni i Zi.
Dhoksi Peak
Dhoksi lakes are located in the northeastern slope of the main peak of Mount Dhoksi (2020), in a well formed and relatively large cirque complex. The glacial lakes of Dhoks are also known as Duriçe lakes after the name of a tribe in the area, and sometimes as the Skënder lakes, based on the name of the main lake, which is believed to be related to the name of Skanderbeg, a toponym or an affiliation that has remained for centuries. The cirque complex where the lakes lie is located at an altitude of 1700-1900 m, with an area of 200 hectares of different plants.
It is located on the northern slope of Mount Dhoksi, very close to the city of Bulqiza, 3.3 km from the city center, of which 2.2km can be reached by car, the rest is on foot.
Approximately 1000 m above sea level. Its position shows a spectacular view over the Bulqizë valley and beyond. The tower was built around 1450 by the Skanderberg army that served as a military unit to protect the country by the enemy.
Zerqan's rocks and caves
At an altitude of 740 m above sea level, it consists of several karst phenomena (spring and cave), which emerge at the lithological contact between the Upper Triassic limestones and the terrigenous. It has clean and cold water. It creates a very attractive environment. It has scientific (geological, geomorphological, hydrological), cultural, didactic and touristic values. It is visited according to the Bulqize city-Zerqan villages itinerary.
The Shebenik - Jabllanicë National Park is located in the northeastern part of our country, within the forest management boundaries of Librazhdi. The park has a total area of 33,927.66 hectares, where the main part is occupied by forests, followed by pastures, agricultural lands, non-productive lands, rocky areas, and plots. There are numerous ecological values, both the flora and fauna, as well as the tourist landscapes, with towering beech, fir, black pine, juniper, brushwood, and a rich variety of herbaceous plants. Distance from the center of Bulqizë is 92.3 km.
It is also known by the names Xixëlla and the Battle of 1860, Xixëll the Qerbela bridge. It is located near the village of Peshk in the Administrative Unit of Martanesh, 1200 m above sea level. It constitutes a field shaped by glaciers and karst, with an almost oval shape, over 1.5 km in length and several hundred meters wide. In the middle, there is a well-preserved grown fir tree. Nearby, there is a karst spring and a monument about the battle of Sheh Fejzë Bulqiza, as well as a stone bridge named the Qerbela bridge. Historical events of the 19th century in the region have also taken place here. Religious festivals with pagan roots are organized here.
